Weather in Riga is still like winter! Temperatures drop below minus at night, and about +3 degrees Celsius by day. Parks and forests full of snow and icy pathways.

In 1949 March 25 Soviet authorities deported thousands of Latvians to Siberia and other camps in Soviet Union.

“Coastal Surf” (операция “Прибой”) was the code name for Soviet mass deportations from the three Baltic states on March 25–28, 1949.

- hostels in Old Town are your best choice, if you have couple days and want to see everything quickly (Old Town is in the heart of Riga, with all the clubs, pubs, restaurants and places to see).

- many hostels have other services like bike rental, pub, etc.

- do they have a free wi-fi.

In case you had no time to reserve hostel via internet, i’m sure you’ll find one with free spots just by walking around Old Town Riga.

May to August we have summer in Latvia, but it’s not as hot as summers in Germany or sunny as summers in England.

We have a lots of cloudy and rainy days during summer. But we also have many hot days with clear blue skies and temperatures near +30 Celsius.

If you travel to Latvia in summer, Google for weather forecast in your destination cities, or go to “Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre” website here (it gives weather forecast in Riga and Latvia for the next 5 days).

The forecast is in Latvian language, but you can understand everything by clicking on dates above the map (day forecast is “Diena”, night forecast is “Nakts”).
