This clip “Static Skydiving in Latvia” shows you the miracle originating from Latvia - Aerodium.
It’s that air tunnel put to stand vertically not horizontally. The result is a cool way to waste your money and have fun for some five minutes riding on air like in a real free fall.

Try it, if you’re somewhere near city Sigulda . Sigulda is only 50km from Riga, don’t be lazy! ;)

BTW, this thing is getting update next year - the new static skydiving machine will be built in city Jelgava (just about 50 km from Riga), in 2008!

See this page for a nice graph of kamping places situated right next to river Gauja inside the “Gauja National Park”. I’m sure you will bookmark this site if you’re planning to make a little boat trip in Latvia.

If you happen to be on the bicycle road Riga - Jurmala at night, make sure you stop somewhere at the point where planes are heading to nearby RIX (Riga Airport). The airport is about one or two kilometers from that bike path, so it’s pretty impressive to see roaring jets just over your head so close-up! There’s even a sign of propeller on the asphalt drawn, it’s somewhere after trains station “Imanta” on the way to Jurmala. Stop there and wait for a while, you will like it ;)
