How much an air trip to Latvia and Riga costs? These days sometimes nothing, literally. The cheap airlines like Ryanair and Easyjet provide flight from most of the European cities to Riga for just couple of Euros. Well, it depends of current offer and discount levels, but if you try to keep up with latest information, you might get lucky and buy a ticket from London to Riga for only 10 or even 1 Pound!

Lots of media following now this event, many stars and gossip people have arrived to Jurmala, and this week is going to be a hot one for this beautiful tourist town next to Baltic Sea.

How much a pint of beer costs in Latvia and Riga?

Pub, restaurant:

In bars and restaurants pint of beer costs about 2 Lats. That is about 2 British pounds or 3 Euros, or 4 US dollars. Note, that drinks in cities/villages outside Riga cost less! If going to rural areas, where there’s only two shops and one pub in town, cheap drinks paradise guaranteed. Don’t say I didn’t warn you..

Shop:

If you buy beer in 0.5L bottles in shop planning to get monkey-face-drunk at home party, this will cost you cheaper. Price for bottle of beer (light or dark) is around 0.50 Lats, that is 0.50 GBP, or almost 1 Euro, or a bit more than one dollar.

Latvia at war with Lithuania

Last night was a historic attack on Latvian soil made by army of 50 Lithuanian citizens. A bunch of drunk and low-IQ elements crossed the border and started to demolish small town in Latvia by Lithuanian border - Skaistkalne.

Victims and eyewitnesses say people from Lithuania were breaking windows (so urla style), damaging road signs (pure monkey instinct) and even shooting guns (gas pistols, currently the only weaponry of Lithuanian Armed Forces). As the legend says, it all started because one of Latvian guys (local Chuck Norris from Skaistkalne) went to disco in Lithuanian border town Germaniškis and alone kicked ass of about twenty five village cowboys. They felt kinda unsecure and wanted revenge, so they run home to get their moms and then entered Latvia.

The Latvian government is now in state of emergency and considering either to launch massive airstrikes over Lithuania, or just nuke a small town.

Piedāvājums: dodu iespēju ikvienam par velti publicēt savu rakstu vai bildes šajā mājas lapā. Kāpēc? Tāpēc, ka esmu pārliecināts, ka Latvijā arī bez manis ir cilvēki kam ir ko pastāstīt ārzemniekiem par Latviju, vai gluži vienkārši gribas padalīties ar interesantām fotogrāfijām. Šāds piedāvājums varētu interesēt mājas lapu īpašniekiem, žurnālistiem, blogeriem, fotogrāfiem, vai citiem radošiem cilvēkiem.

Mērķis: izglītot ārzemju cilvēkus par mūsu skaisto zemi :) Tūrisma sezona nav aiz kalniem, tūlīt sāks gāzties iekšā ārzemnieku masas, no kurām, diemžēl, lielu daļu sastāda pļēgurtusētāji jeb stageri (stag party - vecpuišu tusiņš). Daļēji tāpēc arī Latvijas tēls pasaulē asociējas ar lētiem dzērieniem un vieglām meičām. Tad nu mēs varētu gan pļēguriem, gan normāliem tūristiem sniegt vairāk informācijas par to, kas šeit notiek, kas šeit redzams, un kas šeit ir tāds, par ko viņi nenojauš.

Prasības: gan rakstam, gan bildēm jābūt sakarā ar Latviju. Ceļojumu bildes citās valstīs, vai latvieša stāsts kā viņam gājis Austrālijā gluži nederēs :) Iesūtot savu rakstu, lūdzu norādīt tā virsrakstu, kā arī savu vārdu un saiti uz mājas lapu vai blogu, lai varu nopublicēt ar pieklājīgu atsauci. Tas pats attiecas uz bildēm, kā arī, būtu vēlams iesūtīt nevis pašas bildes, bet gan saites uz tām (piemēram, izvietotas uz Flickr vai ImageShack). Ņemiet vērā, ka šeit atrādītajām bildēm platums var būt 650 pikseļi, un tām vajadzētu būt īpašām (interesantām, smieklīgām, skaistām, vai baisām) - tādām, lai tās skatīties būtu interesanti ne tikai Taviem radiniekiem, bet arī ārzemniekiem :)

Bonuss: Uz jautājumu “kāds man labums dot citam par velti savas bildes vai rakstu“, varu teikt, ka, pirmkārt tas ir publicitātei, ko vienmēr dod sadarbība ar citām lapām, kā arī garantēta atpakaļ saite uz autora mājas lapu iekš viņa raksta (vai zem bildēm), kā arī automātiska viņa lapas iekļaušana direktorijā, kas dos papildus labumu gan no apmeklētāju, gan SEO viedokļa ;) Jā, dotajā mirklī šī lapa nepelna nekādus ienākumus, tāpēc materiālo atlīdzību nevaru piedāvāt.
